Fellow CoD lovers,

I wish to debate a very common subject within the CoD online play.
My question to you all is, is camping really a crime?

For those of you who are unsure on unfimiliar with the term 'camping', it is when a player stays in one place for a long or short duration of time, waits for his or her enemies to appear into sight, and then kill them, instead of seeking them out.

I have not yet reached an answer myself, but have simply been over and over the subject with myself and other that perhaps it isnt such a bad method of play. When CoD first started to become an online franchise, camping was born, as it was in many online games, however is really do believe that the game is whatever you make it and surely if you buy the game for your own pleasure then does'nt that mean that you should be able to play the game however you please?
Some of you may answer no, some of you may answer yes, but i really do believe that camping is simply another technique developed by people who find it easier to get the kills, as is quick sniping for example.
It really used to annoy me when online players camped, I myself am not a camper, I prefer the privilage of running around and taking full advantage of my perks, and killing my enemies in my own style, as im sure alot of others do, but a while back I realised that maybe camping is not as bad as we think, maybe some people don't enjoy the game as a runner, maybe some people prefer to hide and seek thier way through maps, sure it is frustrating, but if it was'nt for them then I think I'am right in saying that we would lose alot of online players.

I Shall leave this matter in your very capable hands!

Camping is not bad (for me), is just a way of playing. I don't know why a lot of people are annoyed at campers. In a war, the soldiers are some times camping in one place and then they move to another. I don't think they are running and gunning throughout the battlefield, if so, they would be killed easily.
I only camp when I'm using Sniper Rifles, but sometimes I change to another places.

Camping is a legal strategy. There is nothing wrong with it, it's just criticized because people get frustrated when they get killed by a camper.

I think camping isnt bad if you get a kill and then move on but when someone kills you and then like 2min goes by and return to the same place forgetting all about the "camper" he kills you again without even moving to a different damn corner, what I do is switch to RPG and blow that mothafucker to pieces haha

It may be a legitimate 'strategy', but it slows the game down for everyone, and is counter-productive towards capturing objectives and having your team win. Unless you're playing TDM/FFA, then it's just annoying.

I'm, for the most part, against camping if it isn't with a Sniper Rifle or LMG. Those are weapons that are awful out in the open and can't really be used for much more than holding down positions and choke points. Most campers tend to use AR's, however, so yes, I dislike camping.

To me, it depends on how they're doing it. If they're in the back of the map with a shotgun at one door with a claymore at the other, that's when I really hate it. But if they're camping in a good spot to defend an objective or a choke point, than I could really care less, because it usually is helping more than it seems.

I have no problem with Camping, I hate Spawn Camping though (This type of camping takes away from the game)

http://en.wikipedia....g_(video_gaming)

I have to disagree with the line in the above link about "if everyone camps, no one will come into conflict" this may be true on a console were you have limited numbers of players team (6 for Blackops), however I used to run a 20 player server on the PC for CoD 4, during clan matches we limited the weapon classes to One Sniper per side (though you could pick up the sniper rifle if found on the ground) and One LMG (again same as the Sniper if found on the ground you could use it), usually my clan had One person covering the Sniper (sorta like a two man sniper team) and One person covering the LMG at a choke point, which leaves 6 players left, on most maps in CoD there are always three avenues of approach to the oppsite spawn, if the LMG and the Sniper cover two of those that leaves one open for Two players to cover and a 4 Man fire team to roam the map.

You can apply this to Black Ops as well, if the Sniper and the LMG cover each other that leaves 4 players (most Black Ops maps have two avenues of approach to the opposite spawn, leave One - Two to cover that final approach and you have Two - Three players to roam, how ever most players that Snipe think that they have an assault rifle and want to run around like a chicken with their head off.

my two cents about camping...
